5 Ways To Boost Your Creativity

Creativity is the use of imagination to create something original. This soft skill is one of the most important when it comes to being a freelancer since creative thinking helps overcome any kind of issue, whether it’s at work just as in personal life.

Who hasn’t known someone who shocks everybody with their incredibly smart and original ideas? Let it be on art, marketing trends, science, or any area of expertise, coming up with new, creative solutions improves your work performance, and, as a freelancer, you should always be looking forward to educating and training yourself to become even better than you already are.

But, worry not. Everyone can be creative in their special way. Creative thinking can be trained just as any other ability. And, since we are always interested in helping freelancers grow, we researched the 5 most effective ways to make your creativity pop!

Change Your Workspace

Having a healthy, organized workspace helps to boost creativity and productivity, so if the place where you work has been looking the same for a while, maybe you should try redecorating it, adjusting the lighting and setting, or changing its structure, and you’ll see the refreshing effect it’ll have on your mood.

Creativity is one of the most important skills any freelancer should have.

As crazy as it might sound, changing your environment will help you change your perspective and therefore, help you come up with a different idea. Your creativity will thank you for setting the right mood.

Do Something New

Engaging in new activities will present you with a whole new point of view. Getting to know new people, and having new experiences will give you all kinds of stimuli full of useful information you could integrate into your creative process.

Meditate

Taking a break from technology, responsibilities, and everything can be great for your mind. Experts say that meditating is rejuvenating, and unlocks mental potential, organizing your thoughts and ideas, and increasing self-consciousness, therefore, calming your mind and leaving your mood refreshed and opened to creativity.

Your body sometimes functions very much like a machine. Sometimes, all it takes for it to work again is to be turned off for a moment.

Go For A Walk

A Stanford study showed walking increases creativity. The study found that a person’s creative inspiration increased by an average of 60% when walking.

It’s not about the place where you walk, but about the action itself, so you don’t need to worry about going out of your house at these times. Walking from one wall to another at your place is just as effective as going for a walk outdoors. The important thing is to get moving, since while sitting, just like your body, your thoughts might get stuck somewhere.

Feedback and Collaboration

Improve your creativity by following these tips.

We’ve said this before: Humans are social beings. And as we all are humans, we constantly learn and grow through social interaction.

Your subconscious is gathering data even when you don’t notice, and that’s why it’s so important to surround yourself with positive, productive, and inspiring people.

Many original thinkers have said they had the most wonderful ideas while sharing time with their friends, or that they have polished some new idea when talking to their friends or team about it.

Collaborating with others and asking for advice, feedback or their opinions on something might give you just the information you needed to create that new idea you had been waiting for or that solution you were looking for. When you know about a topic, you feel confident enough to create about it.

As a freelancer, you should never stop striving to become better every day, and creativity is one skill that will get you way ahead of the competition.

Everyone can be creative in their particular way. This means you can do it too! You just need to give it a try and start training this ability just as you trained any others in which you excel right now. The key to success is to keep trying, to keep growing, and to continuously improve. And we hope our tips and recommendations can get you a little closer to your goal.
