Interview with a Freelancer: Danieli Hurtado – Data Coordinator

We recently opened a new section on our blog, called Interview with a Freelancer, in which we are offering the public a deeper look into our work team, allowing them to meet some of our team members. We have talked about a Recruitment Specialist, Aniger Villaroel, and an Audiovisual Manager, Carlos Villalobos. This time you will meet one of our talented Data Coordinators, Danieli Hurtado.

Danieli is a 21-year-old vet student who works for our client based in Switzerland, a company that provides agricultural solutions through the use of artificial intelligence.

Danieli celebrated his birthday at the office the day after getting voted as Freelancer of the Month!

His remarkable skills and dedication have led him to become the supervisor of his shift and to be voted by his peers as the freelancer with the highest Work Commitment.

He is known in his work for his determination when it comes to doing an efficient job and, among his colleagues, for his great sense of responsibility, besides his sense of humor and his signature curly hair.

And it’s that, if work commitment is defined as: “the level of enthusiasm an employee has towards his/her assigned tasks at a workplace”, it’s impossible that Danieli doesn’t come to the thought of all who have worked alongside him.

As a freelancer, he is responsible, and confident when it comes to meeting his goals and objectives and is highly dedicated to the success of both our company and himself.

For this reason, we couldn’t stay without having an interview with him, allowing him to have a space on our blog to make himself known in greater depth. Without further ado, let’s get to it!

Hi, Danieli! I’m pleased to be having this interview with you, even when we’re all so busy, so thank you for having me in the name of our blog. To start with some basic information, can you tell us what a normal day in your life is like?

Hello, thank you very much for the opportunity! Well, my days are quite simple. I mean, I don’t do many different things from what a regular person would do on a regular day. You know, washing my face and brushing my teeth before making breakfast and taking a shower and all that. I don’t think a regular day of mine would differ from somebody else’s regular day. I love going through TikTok and watching videos on Italian lessons.

And how would you describe your work routine?

I wouldn’t say I have such a thing. My duties may vary significantly from one day to another, so calling that a routine wouldn’t be accurate. In general, my routine may be as challenging as it can be quiet and chill sometimes.

And, when you have breaks between your tasks at work, what do you normally do?

Well, having dinner sounds like a good idea since my shift overlaps with dinner time, hahaha! Apart from that, checking my social media and listening to music are two of my favorite things to do during my free time. Also, watching an episode of my favorite show is one of the things I sometimes do.

Those are all very smart choices on what to do with that little free time to keep you from burnout. On that note, what do you think inspires you to stay motivated to work?

I would say my willingness to grow both personally and professionally. I think studying and working are two of the most valuable sources of experience and wisdom, and I am always chasing them both. Knowing that shift after shift I will be a bit better than before definitely boosts my motivation.

I truly think that’s a great reason to stay motivated. But, as we all know, one can also experience some trouble when being such a dedicated worker… Have you ever experienced job stress burnout? If so, how did you get over it? If not, how do you avoid it?

I have always strongly believed that time management helps avoid stress in most cases, so that’s what I always try to do! Trying to keep duties covered when they are supposed to be is key when it comes to lowering the chances of becoming burned out. Respecting your own time is also something I keep in mind since having time for yourself is also part of your life as a worker. So, being committed to your work shift and to the time you ought to spend on yourself is my number one policy.

That’s a very wise thing to do. Thanks for that information, Danieli. On another subject, could you tell us what do you like the most about your job as a Data Coordinator?

I am a Data Coordinator and Shift Supervisor, so being the leader of my shift is a big responsibility so I take it as such. What do I like the most? The fact that my leadership is challenged in every single shift in so many different ways so I have to come up with solutions to meet our goals.

Have you had previous work experience? If so, what do you think is the greatest lesson they left you?

I am a young boy who has been fortunate to have started working since I came of age. My previous work experience as an EFL teacher taught me really important lessons. Having worked with kids, teens, and adults made me learn to deal with several realities, perspectives, and situations as well as different ways to approach issues, situations, and people.

How did you feel knowing that you had won Freelancer of the Month? How was that moment?

Well, that is kinda funny! I was sleeping by the time the ceremony took place since I had worked the night before. My WhatsApp wouldn’t display anything by the time I woke up so I ended up knowing I had been chosen when I was cooking and a couple of coworkers approached me to congratulate me!

Shortly after, my phone got reception again and all messages came in! I felt pretty good because I felt that even though I do things the best way possible without expecting something in exchange, being recognized is always a great thing. After all, it makes you feel that what you do is significant!

That’s right! It’s always great to feel recognized. Congratulations on that, by the way! Could you tell us what Work Commitment is for you?

Work commitment is doing your best when working to fulfill the duties that you have been entrusted to meet! Being committed at work is the only way to get the job done, and reach the best outcome possible. One last thing on this, work commitment should not (under any circumstances) be a synonym for overworking or a source of stress!

I completely agree with that… It’s been a great interview, Danieli. But, before we finish, what advice would you give to someone who wants to start their career as a Freelancer?

Being a freelancer is a unique experience. An experience that will teach you as many things as you are up to learn. The possibilities are endless and so are the learnings you may get.

I would tell people who would like to become freelancers to tackle the idea with an open-minded attitude, with the will to see it as an opportunity to interact with other people—people from other countries and therefore with other cultures and perspectives. The whole thing happens to be an enriching opportunity to grow.

After that question, the farewells took place, and Danieli, thanking the opportunity to share his experience as a freelancer, returned to his affairs, since the interview took place on one of his days off. The result was undoubtedly satisfactory, and now not only I, but all of you know a little more about our Freelancer of March, Danieli Hurtado, a Data Coordinator with a gigantic sense of work commitment.
