Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

1. What services does Freelance Latin America offer?

Freelance Latin America provides fully managed remote staffing for businesses in the United States and Canada. We recruit, vet and match you with bilingual professionals based in Latin America for administrative, executive support, sales, customer service, marketing, finance, legal support and IT roles. Then we handle payroll, work equipment, IT support and ongoing account management, so your team member works like in-house staff. Schedules are full-time (40 hours a week) or part-time (20 hours a week).

2. How does it work?

Three steps. First, a 15-minute discovery call where we map your needs and define the profile. Second, recruitment and vetting: English testing, DISC profiling, reference and background checks, and a shortlist of candidates you interview. Third, you choose your candidate and sign the agreement; we handle equipment, IT setup, payroll and onboarding. Most clients are fully operational within two to three weeks of signing.

3. Where is your team based?

Across Latin America, with a strong presence in Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Panama and Mexico. We serve businesses in the United States and Canada.

4. What time zone do your professionals work in?

All Freelance LATAM professionals work within UTC-3 to UTC-5. That means full overlap with Eastern and Central time and strong overlap with Mountain and Pacific business hours. We match schedules to your business hours before the hire, so when you are online, your team is online.

5. What kinds of roles can you fill?

Operational and support roles across five departments: Admin & Executive, IT & Infrastructure, Growth & Creative, Sales & Relations, and Finance & Legal. If your role is unusual, RoleBuilder, our free AI-powered tool, helps you define responsibilities and expectations before hiring.

6. What if I don't know what to delegate yet?

That is exactly what the discovery call is for. You don’t need a job description before booking. We ask the right questions to surface which tasks are draining your time, and we build the profile together.

Your Team Member

7. How do you vet candidates?

Every candidate goes through English testing (B2 minimum), a DISC personality profile, professional reference checks and a criminal background check before you meet them. You choose how many candidates to interview. If none is the right fit, we go back to sourcing at no extra cost.

8. What languages do your professionals speak?

Every professional speaks English at B2 level or higher, and Spanish is their native language. Some candidates also speak French, Portuguese or Italian. If you need another language, tell us and we will source for it.

9. Can I work directly with my remote professional?

Yes. Day to day, you work directly with your team member. We encourage you to give them a corporate email address, add them to your group chats and your company phone directory, and include them in your calls as you would any on-site colleague. We stay in the background handling payroll, equipment, IT and performance follow-up.

10. Can I hire my remote professional directly?

Yes. Our agreement includes a conversion clause. A one-time conversion fee applies, typically equal to six months of service, depending on how long you have worked together. After that, your company takes on full responsibility for compensation, work tools and compliance with tax and labor regulations. Your Account Manager can walk you through the details.

11. How does onboarding work?

New team members located near one of our offices receive an in-person tour on day one; everyone else is onboarded virtually. Onboarding covers our policies, culture and core values, remote work best practices and email etiquette. We follow up at 7, 30 and 60 days to make sure the transition is working on both sides.

12. How are vacations, holidays and time off handled?

You decide. Your team member is an independent contractor under our agreement, so you define the holiday calendar (U.S. or Canadian) and the time-off policy that fits your culture and budget. If a team member agrees to work on a holiday, you may offer a holiday rate of 1.5 times their standard rate.

13. How are special occasions handled?

Graduation day: time off on the day of the ceremony. Death of an immediate family member or spouse: three days off. Marriage or childbirth: three days off. Parental leave: arranged between your team member and our HR team. Sick days: three paid sick days per year; additional days are unpaid. Team members working from one of our offices can work from home while they recover.

14. Can I send bonuses to my team member?

Yes. We pay any bonus directly to your team member and add it to your monthly invoice.

Pricing and Payments

15. Do you charge a flat rate or an hourly rate?

A flat monthly rate based on the schedule you choose (full-time or part-time). Scale plans start at $13 an hour, all-inclusive: payroll, equipment, IT support, onboarding and a dedicated Account Manager are bundled in.

16. How do payments work?

One invoice a month, no matter how many team members you have. Pay by credit card (2.9% fee) or bank transfer through Stripe or Bill.com, with autopay available.

17. Do I have to commit to an extended period?

No. Our Service Agreement is month to month. You can end it at any time with 30 days’ notice. Most clients stay for years: our average retention is 36 months.

18. Do I have to sign a contract?

Yes, a month-to-month Service Agreement. Sign, receive your invoice, and onboarding starts.

Equipment, IT and Offices

19. Who provides the work equipment?

We do. Every team member receives a computer, headset and mouse dedicated to your company, and our IT team installs the software and apps you need.

20. What if I want to upgrade the equipment?

Our IT manager handles purchasing and shipping for upgrades such as a second screen or a docking station. The cost of the upgrade is covered by the client and added to your invoice.

21. Do you provide VoIP phones?

We do not provide phone numbers, but we can recommend VoIP options our clients use so you can monitor calls and keep the number inside your company directory. If you have a physical phone, we help coordinate shipping to the office where your team member works.

22. Can my team get a static IP address?

Yes, for an additional monthly fee charged by the internet provider. We set it up and include it in your invoice.

23. Can my team member work from one of your offices?

Yes. We offer shared and private office spaces in our Latin American hubs for an additional cost, depending on your requirements and the role.

24. How reliable are the internet and power in your offices?

Our offices run on fiber optic internet from multiple providers, with satellite backup. Every workstation has a UPS with more than 8 hours of battery, and each office has a generator that supplies up to 12 hours of power.

Guarantee and Continuity

25. What is the Freelance Latin America guarantee?

A 30-day replacement guarantee. If the placement is not the right fit within the first month, we find and place a new professional at no additional cost. After that, a 30-day notice period applies. You are never left without support.

26. Do you run background checks?

Yes. A criminal background check and professional reference verification are part of every search.
